I hated my son’s “Village Girl” wife… Until the night I heard what she told the doctor about me in the hospital 😨😱
When my son first brought his fiancée home, I already knew I wasn’t going to like her.
She was too simple. No expensive clothes, no higher education, none of the refined manners I had imagined seeing beside
She had come to the city from a village. When she spoke, she sometimes mispronounced words, mixed up endings, and
smiled shyly when she couldn’t express herself properly. And it annoyed me. One day at dinner, I said coldly:
“Didn’t you study properly at school?”
She lowered her eyes in silence. And my son immediately held her hand under the table. That was when I realized… he was
already on her side. And that made me even angrier. I couldn’t understand why my son had chosen her.
Our neighbor’s daughter was an accountant — beautiful, smart, educated. But this one? A simple village girl. One day, while
she was cooking in the kitchen, she shyly asked:
“Mom… where is the salt?”
I didn’t even let her finish.
“I am not your mother. Call me by my first and last name. And learn how to behave. You are not in the village anymore.”
The kitchen went silent. She said nothing. She simply placed the spoon on the table and walked out to the balcony.
That evening, my son shouted at me for the first time.
“Do you even realize how much you hurt her?”
“I’m just telling the truth,” I answered.
But the truth was… I simply didn’t want to accept that my son now loved another woman more than me.
Time passed. I stayed cold toward her. Even when she brought me my favorite cake or helped around the house, I pretended
not to notice.
But one day, everything changed. That day, I got severe food poisoning. My husband was out of town, and my
son was at work. All I remember is a sharp pain… and then the lights of the ambulance. When I opened my eyes in the
hospital, she was the first person I saw. My daughter-in-law. She was sitting beside my bed. Her eyes were red, and my
medicine was in her hands. The continuation read in the comments ‼️👇‼️👇
“You’re awake…” she whispered, then immediately called the doctor.
During the following days, she practically lived at the hospital. In the mornings, she came with warm broth.
At night, she adjusted my blanket while I was sleeping. And one night, I woke up and heard her speaking to the doctor in the
hallway.
“Please… do everything you can, just let her get better… I know she doesn’t love me… but she is my family.”
Those words froze me. I closed my eyes because I was ashamed that I had heard them. And for the first time, I thought:
“What if I was the wrong one all along?”
After I returned home, I began looking at her differently. I saw how tired she was, but she never complained.
How she waited for my son to come home from work, warmed up dinner, and then sat late into the night calculating the
family expenses. Before marrying her, my son spent all his time with friends. He didn’t save money. He didn’t think about the
future. But now? A good job. An apartment. A car. A peaceful home. And most importantly — happy eyes.
One evening, my husband looked at me and said:
“Our daughter-in-law is a very strong girl.”
I stayed silent for a long time. Then I quietly answered:
“I know…”
But the real blow was still ahead. One day, I accidentally heard my daughter-in-law talking to her friend on the phone in the
kitchen.
“Sometimes it hurts a lot…” she said softly. “But I understand her. She was simply afraid of losing her son…”
I stood behind the door and couldn’t move. She… had never hated me. Even after everything I had done. That evening, when
“Mom… where is the salt?”
For the first time, I smiled.
“It’s on the table, sweetheart…”
She looked at me in surprise. And suddenly, I understood that I had been wrong about judging people my whole life.
Education, city life, or beautiful speech do not always mean a big heart.
Sometimes the kindest people come from the places where we least expect them… 💔
