His secretary stayed silent when he asked who hurt her—But the reaction of the man standing behind her revealed
everything 😱😨
Elena had worked for Luca Moretti for six years, and during that time, she had learned one important thing:
Nothing escaped his attention. Not a hidden document. And certainly not betrayal.
That was why, when Elena entered Luca’s office that morning, she kept telling herself to behave normally.
“The morning reports, Mr. Moretti,” she said, placing a leather folder on his desk.
Luca was sitting behind his polished glass desk. Paris stretched out behind him, and the Eiffel Tower could be seen in the
distance beneath the cloudy sky. There was one other person in the room.
Victor Hale, the company’s chief financial officer. He stood near the window with his hands behind his back. His dark suit was
flawless, and his expression was calm. Elena tried not to look in his direction. Luca reached for the folder.
Elena leaned forward at the same time, and at that exact moment, the silver clasp on her left sleeve came loose. The fabric
slid upward. Four dark marks were visible around her wrist. Clear fingerprints. It looked as though someone had grabbed her
arm and squeezed it with all their strength. Luca’s hand stopped on top of the folder. Elena quickly pulled her sleeve down,
but it was already too late. Luca first looked at her wrist. Then he raised his eyes to her face. His expression barely changed.
Only his jaw tightened.
“Who did that to you?”
Elena froze. The office became so quiet that they could hear every tick of the clock on the wall. She opened her mouth, but
no words came out.
Then, almost involuntarily, she looked over Luca’s shoulder. Straight at Victor.
Victor’s confident expression changed for only a second. He swallowed hard, adjusted his tie, and began scraping his thumb
repeatedly along the edge of his expensive watch.
Luca noticed everything.
“Elena,” he said more gently, “I’m not going to force you to speak. But you are safe in this room.”
“She probably injured herself,” Victor interrupted. “Maybe she fell.”
Luca slowly turned his head toward him.
Victor’s hand moved away from his watch.
“I’m only trying to help.”
“Then remain silent.”
With trembling hands, Elena opened the leather folder. She removed a small black USB drive and placed it on the desk.
“The original financial records are on this.”
Victor’s face turned pale.
“Elena, think very carefully about what you’re saying.”
Luca rose from his chair.
“Do not threaten her.”
“I’m not threatening anyone. She simply doesn’t understand what she’s involving herself in.”
Elena looked at Luca.
“Three weeks ago, I found inconsistencies in the accounts. There were payments to companies that didn’t actually exist. The
amounts looked small at first, but when I traced all the transfers…”
She couldn’t finish.
“How much?” Luca asked.
“Forty-eight million euros.”
Victor gave a nervous laugh.
“This is ridiculous.”
“I reported everything to him,” Elena said, looking directly at Victor. “Two days later, someone entered my apartment. They
didn’t steal anything. They only searched my computer and my documents.”
Luca’s gaze turned cold.
“And your wrist?”
Fear filled Elena’s eyes.
“Last night, someone followed me in the underground parking garage. He approached from behind, pushed me against my
car, and told me to stop investigating the accounts.”
“Did you see his face?”
“No.”
“Then why are you afraid of Victor?”
Elena fell silent again. Victor began moving toward the door.
“This meeting is over.”
“Don’t move,” Luca said.
Victor stopped. Two members of Luca’s security team were already visible on the other side of the glass doors. Elena took a
deep breath and removed a photograph from the folder. It was a dark, grainy image taken from a surveillance camera in the
underground garage. Victor was standing beside Elena’s car. The timestamp read 10:43 p.m. Twenty-seven minutes before
the attack.
“This proves nothing,” Victor said. “I was there for a meeting.”
Victor didn’t answer.
Luca opened his laptop and connected the USB drive. Lists of payments, shell companies, and secret accounts appeared on
the screen. But the final folder didn’t contain financial records. It was labeled:
“GARAGE AUDIO.”
Elena stared at the screen.
“I didn’t put that there.”
Luca opened the audio file. The continuation read in the comments 👇‼️👇‼️
At first, they heard only the distant sounds of the parking garage.
Then Victor’s voice came through the speakers.
“She’ll tell Luca everything tomorrow. Make sure she becomes frightened enough to remain silent.”
Victor suddenly lunged toward the laptop.
The security guards entered the office and restrained him.
“The recording is fake!” Victor shouted. “You don’t understand! I didn’t take the money for myself!”
Luca slowly approached him.
“Then who did you take it for?”
Real terror appeared on Victor’s face.
“Your father.”
Luca froze.
His father had been presumed dead for seven years.
Victor laughed desperately.
“He’s alive, Luca. Every transfer was made under his instructions. They weren’t stealing from your company…”
He paused.
“They were preparing to remove you.”
Suddenly, Luca’s phone rang.
He answered and activated the speaker.
The calm voice of an older man filled the room.
“Hello, son. It seems your secretary finally found me.”
Elena turned pale.
Luca looked at her and then at Victor.
But there was no longer anger on his face.
Only cold determination.
“Lock down the entire building,” he ordered the security guards. “No one leaves.”
Then he lifted the phone and spoke.
“I’ve waited seven years for a dead man to explain why he betrayed me.”
A quiet laugh came from the other end of the call.
“I didn’t betray you, Luca. I simply wanted to see whether you were worthy of taking my place.”
Luca looked at the fingerprints around Elena’s wrist.
“You just chose the worst possible way to find out.”
He ended the call and turned toward Elena.
“From this moment on, you don’t go anywhere alone.”
That night, the police arrested Victor and the two men who had organized the attack. Using the evidence from the USB drive, investigators froze every secret account.
Luca’s father was eventually found hiding in a private estate in Switzerland.
The forty-eight million euros were returned to the company.
But the following morning, when Elena entered Luca’s office again, she noticed a small silver box on his desk.
Inside was a new clasp for her sleeve.
Beside it was a short handwritten message:
**“Never hide a wound to protect the person who caused it.”**
